Sensoji temple

Sensoji Temple in Asakusa is the oldest temple in Tokyo.

Many festivals, fairs, and other events are held where you can feel Japanese culture.

The contrast between the main hall and five-storied pagoda of Sensoji Temple and the Tokyo Sky Tree is wonderful.

There are many people walking in kimono, and you can see many rickshaws around Kaminarimon and Nitenmon.

Beginning with the New Year’s visit, which is one of the top five in Japan, with more than 2.9 million visitors, the bean-scattering ceremony in February, and the Sanja Festival (At Asakusa Shrine right next to Sensoji Temple) in May, where mikoshi (portable shrines) are carried around the precincts and the approach to the shrine.

On July 9th and 10th in the summer, the Hozuki Market is held on the grounds of Senso-ji Temple, and on December 17th, 18th and 19th in the winter, the Hagoitaichi, the Battledore Market is held.
